There's a new voice in town for minority businesses: The African Chamber of Commerce. It represent small business owners who are immigrants from Africa. The Tennessean reports there are 10,000 African immigrants in Middle Tennessee. The goal of the group is to expand trade between Tennessee and African countries, and provide more business opportunities for minorities and women. The president of the African Chamber of Commerce is Henny Mbosowo, owner of Global Medical Supplies in Nashville.
The new Nashville chapter is linked to the African Chamber of Commerce in Washington DC, a lobbying group that promotes better relations between the U.S. and African nations. There are chapters in Seattle, Los Angeles, Orlando and other cities across the country.
