Don't confuse the i-house with an iPod or an iPhone. It's innovative alright, but it's a real house. Wrap your head around this: It's a manufactured home built in Maryville, Tennessee, by Clayton Homes. The Tennessean says a 1,000 foot prototype that comes fully furnished costs around $140,000. Clayton claims electric and heating bill runs about $1 a day. Some of the features include a rainwater recycling system, solar panels, exterior walls that are 6 inches thick, and a tankless water heater. It's not your grandmother's double wide.
The i-house was unveiled at the Berkshire Hathaway annual meeting last weekend. And so far the trades are giving it positive reviews. See what Treehugger.com says
