Chattanooga-based HERO BioMass has developed a system to convert chicken litter into a heating fuel.  The process is designed to provide energy to heat chicken houses.

BioMass CEO Phil Lynch believes the system will pay for itself within a few years.

"We've taken a system we developed from scratch to burn the litter; we're turning it into heat to climate-control the houses," Mr. Lynch said. "It's all automatic, and you get rid of the environmental issues."
