Forbes magazine is dissing Nashville again. The magazine that called us the fattest city in America is now calling us one of the most dangerous. Nashville is number 9 on the Forbes list of most dangerous cities in America. We find this hard to believe in a place where many people still don't lock their doors. But maybe it's time to wake up and pay attention.
Forbes looked at FBI statistics for 2007 in the metropolitan area that includes Nashville, Murfreesboro and Franklin. There were 817 violent crimes for every 100,000 people. What's even worse... Memphis is number 2 on the list, with 1,218 crimes per 100,000 people. Forbes reports that both cities are transit points for Mexican drug cartels, who use Interstate 40 as a main artery.
