Police Chief Ronal Serpas made it clear how he feels about the men charged with shooting Sgt. Mark Chesnut.
He told Channel 4 News, "They're in deep trouble, and I hope they go to prison for the rest of their natural life on earth, and then after their life on earth, I hope they go to prison in hell."
While Sgt. Chesnut continues to recover in a rehab center, two men accused of trying to murder him heard some of the evidence against them. As News 2 reports, at least a dozen police officers, along with Chief Serpas, were in the courtroom. Det. Norris Tarkington testified that Chesnut was shot 5 times. He never got the chance to pull his gun. Suspect Joseph Jackson, a prison escapee on the run from Mississippi allegedly told detectives he could not justify why he pulled the trigger.
