An unknown number of children could lose child support in Tennessee if the Baby Daddy Bill becomes law. The bill would allow a man to stop making support payments, if genetic testing reveals he's not really the child's father. Sponsor Stacey Campfield (R-Knoxville) says the issue is fairness, according to the Chattanooga Times Free Press. Although the bill passed in the House, some lawmakers oppose it. They warn that mothers and children could be abruptly left to fend for themselves.
The Baby Daddy bill has generated antagonizing debate for more than a year. Take a look at this revealing video posted on Campfield's website.
Just last week, Rep. Jeanne Richardson sparred with Campfield. Nashvillepost.com has a video of the moment, and Kleinheider has an opinion about the issue.
