The best thing about being over 50 is you may be less likely to get swine flu. Researchers say older people have partial immunity to the H1N1 virus because they were probably exposed to a similar strain in the 1950's. Healthday reports this may explain why the new swine flu outbreak is hitting children and young adults especially hard.
Two more young people have died from swine flu. A 13 year old boy in Tucson and a 21 year old man with health problems in Salt Lake City, according to the Associated Press. This brings the death toll in the U.S. to 10.
Swine flu cases in Tennessee jumped to 94 on Thursday morning.
The CDC has not posted Thursday's national case number yet. On Wednesday there were 5,710 people with confirmed and probable cases in 48 states.
We will update the number when it becomes available.
