The Metro Health Department has decided not to spray for mosquitoes unless a there's a high risk of a West Nile epidemic.  News 2 reports staffers are looking for standing water with mosquito larvae. They're using granular larvicide to kill the larvae before they become biting mosquitoes.  In the past, spray trucks have met with opposition from residents who don't want chemicals sprayed all over their neighborhoods.  Dr. Bill Paul, Director of Health, says the risk of disease is low in Nashville, so chemical spraying will be limited. The Health Department continues to trap and test mosquitoes, but so far there are no signs of West Nile virus this year.
