Several schools in East Tennessee are shutting down for the remainder of the week because of flu outbreaks. Some schools have been reporting up to 30 percent abesentee rates in recent weeks. 
News like that causes other institutions and businesses to brace for the worst, should the H1N1 virus spiral to new heights. And they are concerned about their ability to continue operations if they fall prey to the virus according to this story in the Tennessean.
So perhaps we can begin to breathe a little easier with word that the first batches of the H1N1 vaccine have been given FDA approval. News 2 did the story and it's in the video box.
