We don't often quote columnists here at 24/7. Lord knows we throw out enough opinions so who needs to lasso in more.
But in this case, Gail Kerr of The Tennessean is spot on. We need to "gain a little Zen" about this whole flu thing.
Swine flu. H1N1 virus. Seasonal flu. Vaccines.
And maybe we have gotten a bit calmer in our thinking. Even as we see reports of vaccine shortages such as this one from Newschannel 5, we also hear that nobody's running to the clinic (or the grocery store or the pharmacy) to get a seasonal flu shot. News 2's reporting of this phenomenon is in the video box. Yes, they emphasize the fear factor. We think that cooler heads might be prevailing.
Full Disclosure: We haven't gotten our flu shots yet. Some of us hate needles. Some of us are ornery. Some of us think that damned media may be overhyping the story.
