If you are battling a bad heart, a new procedure using stem cells might be able to help. A breakthrough in stem cell research has suggested a simple procedure to regenerate the heart. Doctors across the nation are performing open heart surgery where stem cells are injected directly into damaged parts of the heart. Newschannel 5 reports doctors at the University of Miami are testing an alternative procedure that does not involve major surgery.  They're injecting stem cells through a catheter that's threaded into the heart through a blood vessel in the groin.  They hope this works for patients who are too weak for open heart surgery.
