Steven Curtis Chapman won Artist of the Year at the Dove Awards on Thursday night.   Gospel Music Association stars filled the Opry House for the 40th annual Dove Awards.  A last minute appearance by Miss California was a highlight of the event.  Carrie PreJean was runner up in the Miss USA pageant this week.  She made national headlines when she said she opposes gay marriage during the pageant.  Her views were no problem for the Gospel Music Association audience, which welcomed her warmly.
