Despite the recession and rising ticket prices, people are going to the movies in record numbers.  NewsChannel 5 reports ticket revenues have jumped by 17.5%.  Attendance is up by 16%, the biggest surge in more than 20 years. 
Experts give credit to family friendly movies. Hollywood.com says the # 1 movie this holiday weekend was  Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian, which earned $70 million, kicking #2 in the butt.  Terminator only took in $53 million  
Movies were hot during the Great Depression as well.  It appears people need a place to go to forget their troubles.
