It was bound to happen, and now that it has, what will be the outcome?
When the Metro School Board announced its rezoning plan last year, a plan that effectively ended busing for racial balance, there were warnings that the plan could lead to lawsuits.
The first one has been filed on behalf of the parents of a student who's been rezoned back into John Early Middle School, in her North Nashville neighborhood. She had been attending Bellevue Middle School. The suit was triggered by claims that students in John Early still lack textbooks that have been distributed in Bellevue, and that the student has been targeted for bullying in her new surroundings.
