The 87 year old Neyland Stadium is undergoing a 200 Million dollar renovation. At a time when the state is cutting budgets, the University says the money spent on this project is worth the investment. Last year, football ticket sales brought in more than $24 million, the single largest revenue source for the athletic department, according to govolsxtra.com. So far, the university is not using any state money. The funds are coming from donors and financing options. But the massive and visible project could become an issue if UT is forced to cut back staff in other departments.
