Wow...that didn't take long. Just a few months after reaching new lows at college basketball's all-time winningest program, new Kentucky don John Calipari has solidified what is by far the nation's No. 1 basketball recruiting class by landing the consensus top 2009 prospect this week in uber point guard John Wall. Though the collegiate status of go-to scorer/preseason All-Everything Jodie Meeks remains uncertain, the infusion of four five-star players (including the top two overall according to Rivals.com), the unexpected return of projected NBA first-rounder Patrick Patterson, and the likely galvanization in program chemistry under Calipari will make Kentucky a popular preseason pick for the national title. (Not bad for an erstwhile powerhouse that had to settle for the NIT last season.)
