Will the real Vandy please stand up? After the bottom-seeded Commodores knocked off Goliath in the form of No. 1 LSU Wednesday, Vanderbilt (33-24) continued the fledgling stages of what could be a Cinderella run to its second SEC Tournament title. In a showdown against No. 5 South Carolina Thursday night, freshman flamethrower Sonny Gray struck out 11 and fifth-year senior centerfielder Johnny White walked home the game-winning run with bases loaded in the top of the ninth. Vandy then survived a bottom-ninth rally behind the savvy of sophomore Chase Reid, giving the 'Dores a 5-4 victory and Friday bye as the brackets flip and they await their semifinal opponent (Florida or Arkansas).
