If you think this week is hot, just wait until August.  The heat has the National Athletic Trainer's Association worried about high school athletes.  They're calling on high school teams to stop or limit two-a-day practices in August.   According to the Leaf Chronicle, 39 football players at all levels have died from heat since 1995, and most of those cases occurred in August.
In the most recent case, a coach in Louisville is charged with reckless homicide in the death of a 15 year old player last August. Witnesses said he withheld water. a violation of state guidelines. WLKY TV reports in our video box.
NATA is recommending a heat acclimatization program for the first 14 days of practice.  USA Today lays it all out.
