Despite cutbacks on campus and a 9% tuition hike, the University of Tennessee will pay $300,000 to a football coach who was allegedly fired without cause. Strength and conditioning coach Mark Smith was let go after five months on the job. No one in the athletic department is talking. NewsChannel 5 reports Smith was supposed to make $190,000 this year, and $200,000 next year.
The Denton Record Chronicle reports North Texas strength coach Aaron Ausmus, a former track star for the Vols, will take the job and starts on Monday.
