Say what you want about head coach Bobby Johnson and the traditionally downtrodden football program at Vanderbilt, but their hard work finally seems to be paying off. Following their first bowl win in over a quarter century, Johnson and his Vanderbilt staff have secured a number of early commitments for the class of 2010 this month, including a jaw-dropping five commitments following the team's cookout for recruits this weekend. Four of the nine total commits so far are ranked three stars by Rivals.com, including a Georgia quarterback who was destined for 'Nash'-ville. Meanwhile, the Commodore coaches have already named their triumvirate of captains for 2009 and VandySports.com recently released its list of top prospects in the Mid-State, headlined by Maplewood's national top-50 offensive lineman James Stone.
