Even if you're a Nashville denizen and don't give a tuss about Vanderbilt athletics, you've still got to like Kevin Stallings. According to ESPN's Andy Katz, the VU men's basketball head coach shelled out $100,000 from his own bank account to save a planned team trip to Australia when the funds the university would usually supply for such trips fell through due to recession-related circumstances. So far, the team-building experience seems to be paying off as the team is 3-0 with two games left in the tour. The Commodores defeated the Dandenong Rangers 107-84 on Monday and the Kilsyth Cobras 102-82 on Tuesday (both semi-pro teams) as well as besting Aussie native A.J. Ogilvy's former high school, the Australian Institute of Sport, 118-106 on Wednesday.
