Oprah plans to end her talk show in 2011. Harpo Productions confirmed the rumors Thursday evening for Broadcasting and Cable.
But don't expect her to retire. Oprah is starting her own cable network called OWN: The Oprah Winfrey Network.
In Nashville, the Oprah Winfrey Show airs daily on WSMV-TV, Channel 4. Her viewers are intensely loyal and her Nashville connections run deep. Oprah's broadcast career started here when she was just 17. First she landed a job at WVOL radio, then worked as a reporter/anchor at WTVF-TV, NewsChannel 5. She studied at Tennessee State University.
